Builders show more confidence in the future
PORTLAND, OR , (RISI) - Despite a sharp drop in both housing starts and building permits, the nation's builders seem a little more confident as they anticipate the future. This came from the release on Monday of the National Home Builders Association's Housing Market Index (HMI), a measure of the attitudes of the member builders of the NAHB. The HMI showed a level of 16 for August, which was the same as July. But the Index component that measures sales expectations rose 2 points, to a level of 25.
